The Milford Track

While the rest of the class was on camp my parents, a friend, my brothers and I hiked
The Milford Track. It was Amazing!!! These are some of the memorable times/things.

One Time I was Challenged:

On the third day we hiked up and over a pass. It was tiring. Once we finally got up to the top the views were amazing! But we still weren't even half way to the next hut.

The Worst Thing:
THE SAND FLIES!!!!!  Especially at the end if you held still out doors they would swarm around you, and even if you were tired sometimes it was better to keep walking than to sit down and spend your time swatting away sand flies!  Would they ever stop trying to bite you?

Something that helped Me:
Something that helped me was playing games as we walked.  It would distract me from walking and it didn’t seem as hard.  Some games we played were contact (a word game) and a game called The Related game (you would say a word and then the person behind you would say a word related to the word you said and then the person behind them would say a word relating to that word and so on.)

One of the best times:
Oh! It felt nice to have taken off my pack!  We were walking down a track to look at Sutherland Falls.  The tallest waterfall in New Zealand!  Wow! There it was three waterfalls on top of each other!

Someone Who Amazed Me:
Someone who amazed me was my dad.  He had brought his fishing pole and tried fishing a few times but had not caught any fish.  Untill...We stopped for lunch one day and the water was amazingly clear-you could see the bottom of the river.  We saw some fish in the water so my dad decided to try to catch them.  As he waded out his pole started to get pulled down more!  YAY!  He pulled out a big fish.  After he let the fish go he kept on casting untill YAY! another fish.  As he was catching fish we saw eels swimming in the water.  It was a good lunchtime show!!!

  1. I really enjoyed the part where you talk about your Dad catching a fish. Thanks for sharing. Your trip sounds amazing. Have you done any other big tramps? Did you have to carry your own pack?

  5. Hi Mercy,

I was just checking you have done two activities from the Student Blogging Challenge. I see you have made an avatar; that is one.

The above work is very good with a combination of writing and pictures, but I am not sure from what you say that it is in response to any particular challenge from the Student Blogging Challenge.

    With every good wish

    Merry Beau

  6. Well done Mercy. You have been working hard and seem to be on the right track now. I will be back to take a proper look later.
