Traveling Rush

We were finally in the air.  We had been delayed in Oakland ,California for about 2 hours!
Being delayed that long would make a tight connection for our next flight.

We landed in Los Angeles, C.A. with about 40 minutes till we had to be checked in to our next flight.   We quickly exited the plane and made our way to the baggage claim.  We waited for our suitcases to come into view and pulled them off.  We started as quickly as we could to try to find our way to the international terminal.

Once we knew where to go to the international terminal we didn’t wait to start running to get there.  We were in terminal 1 and we had to pass terminal 2 and 3 to get there.  My mom was pushing one of the airport trolleys that had 3 suitcases stacked on it.  I was pulling a suitcase, as was my younger sister, Sage.

Sage and I were following our mom, trying not to fall behind her too far.

My youngest sister, Joyce, was trying to run beside my mom but eventually she slowed down and started to be left behind.  My mom picked Joyce up and held her on the cart.

When Sage got tired. I took the suitcase she was pulling and tried to keep both suitcases going straight.

When we had mode it to halfway past terminal 3 I started getting tired.  We kept going and we encouraged each other.  Working together we pulled through and made it to where we needed to check in.

According to my mom’s phone we had three minutes left.  We talked to one of the people behind the desk.  They said we were too late.  My Mom showed them her phone to show we had 3 minutes left.  They took our bags and checked us in!  We were relieved.  I felt that it was worth the run even though we were all tired and it felt really good to rest.

In the end we made our flight by working as a team and keeping on going even when we were tired.

Dividing Decimals

This is an explain everything about a strategy we are learning about in school that helps if you are trying to do division with decimals.  The problems I solved in the explain everything are 2.1 divided by 3 and 2.36 divided by 6.  I would appreciate a comment about this explain everything.

Tracking My Own Learning

Tracking is good to do because then we have a choice of what to do.  It would make school fun if we get to choose all the things we do.

I think I am getting enough of everything in except maybe writing and WIT.  I only got 3 sessions of writing and we’re meant to do 4.  I only got 3 sessions of WIT and we’re meant to get 4-5.

Reading-I got 6 sessions in and we’re meant to do 4.

WIT-I got 3 sessions in and we’re meant to do 4-5.

Writing-I got 3 sessions in and we’re meant to do 4.

Spelling-I got 2 and we’re meant to get 2-3.

Other-I got 4 sessions in but it doesn’t really matter how much we do of this.

Maths-I got 3 sessions in, and it doesn’t matter how many we do.

IKAN-I got 6 sessions in and we’re meant to do 3.

I got lots of extra on IKAN and Reading.  Next week I need to do extra Writing and WIT.

I got all my must dos done this week.

I really don’t want to go back to the way where the teacher chooses what everyone does at every time.  Then even if we really want to finish something if the teacher say we have to move on we have to move on.

If some people want to do the same thing at the same time then the teacher could have a group that always does the same thing at the same time. And the people that want to choose what to do and track their learning could do what they want to do (if the teacher trusts them).

I have enjoyed choosing what to do some of the time.  And I want to carry on doing it more.  It would make school more fun.

Piano Group Class

Piano Group Class

With blurry eyes I saw the door open and a dark figure was standing in the doorway.  As my eyes adjusted to the dark.  I saw my mom standing, beckoning for me to get up.  She asked if I was awake and I answered saying

“I'm awake.”

I glanced at my watch.  5:00 am.  I got out of my bed.  Still half asleep I walked out and got dressed.

I walked into the piano room and got out the books I was going to use.  I turned on the metronome to 120 and practised Hanon to warm my fingers up.

It was 5:15 am. so my mom pushed the ‘call’ button to call my teacher on face-time.(my mom is also my teacher.  I Learn a lot from my mom as well.)  It didn't work.  So my mom tried again.  It didn't work again.  Finally after several more tries it worked.  Yay!

I saw the rest of the girls my age waiting to play.  My teacher asked me if I wanted to be first, or if I wanted to wake up a bit more before I played.(since everyone else was in America it was about 12:15, noon, for them.)  I answered saying I wanted to play now.

I played.  I was nervous but I played even better than I practised.  I made only 3 mistakes!  That was a score of -3!

By the end of group class no one else had a higher score than -3!  That meant I was the winner!  I was very happy.

At the end of group class, everyone got a chocolate bar.(except me because I am in New Zealand and everyone else was in America)  My teacher said she would save my TWO chocolate bars.(I got two because I won)

It was a fun group class and I'm glad I went.

Dappled Annie and the Tigrish

This the book I finished not to long ago.  It is called Dappled Annie and the Tigrish.   In this explain everything I have tried to explain who some of the characters are, and what some of their character traits are.  I would like it if you would put your comments/suggestion in the comment bar below.
